Q: I have a lot to say and can’t make it fit into the text space allowed. What should I do?
A: We have to have a character limit or the billboard generator wouldn’t work properly. Try to pick out the most important part of your message, like a real billboard advertisement or as though you’re writing a text message or a tweet.
Q: How do I know whether I have the right to use my image?
A: If you created the image yourself, or have written permission from the photographer or rights owner to use the image, then you have the right to use your image. If you aren’t sure for any reason at all whether you have this permission, use an image from our library as we own the rights to all of these images.
Q: What size does my image need to be?
A: Your photo will automatically be cropped and resized to fit the template, however if you want to ensure that the image appears the way you want it to, you should resize or crop it to 850 pixels wide by 416 pixels high. If you have any problem contact us.
Q: My image doesn’t fit the billboard shape, what should I do?
A: We have created our billboard template to look like the billboard adverts that you see by the side of the road every day. These are always in a landscape format (with the long edge running horizontally and the short edge vertically). You will need to upload a landscape image in the size specified in the question above. Alternatively, you can pick one of the images from our library, which are already at the correct size.
Q: What type of photos do you suggest I use for my Billboard?
A: You can use whatever image you think will get your message across best – although we would recommend that you use images that are uplifting and hopeful rather than images designed to shock. Our gallery and picture library should give you some inspiration. Obviously any inappropriate images - overly graphic or gratuitous images for example – will be removed from the site.
Q: How will my billboard be used?
A: We’ll publish it to our gallery, to our facebook page and twitter stream. We won’t do anything else with it without asking you first, this is one of the reasons we asked you to provide your details before creating your billboard.
Q: How long will my Billboard be visible for?
A: We’re planning to keep the campaign running for three months, after which we’ll take the site down and your image will no longer be visible. We might want to use your Billboard for further campaign work, but if we do we will contact you to ask you for permission first.
Q: How can I find out more about the work Bliss does?
A: The easiest way is to visit our website www.bliss.org.uk where you can find all the information you need about the work that we do. If you want to contact us to find out more our contact details are here.
